Meta Muse for Marketplace sellers: Can Muse sell my stuff?

Break Orbit

· 7 min read

On Marketplace, it does some of the work. It writes listings from your photos and drafts replies to buyers. Keep it on Allow once and never give it your home address. Etsy and eBay are harder: Muse has no connector for either.

Our take: Muse helps with the slow parts of selling: listings from photos, and replies to the questions buyers ask over and over. We would not let it send replies on its own yet. One seller tapped Allow Always, and Muse sent his pickup address to a buyer. Keep Muse on Allow once and read each reply before it goes.

What does Muse do on Marketplace?

Send Muse a photo and it writes the listing. One seller says the listing went live a minute later. Another uses it to write ads and handle messages with buyers. Meta's AI chief says Muse's Facebook connector includes Marketplace, but Meta has no help page on selling with it.

Replies are hit or miss. Since late September, users say Muse asks before every message, and one says Marketplace sends fail with an error. Meta has not announced a change. Plan to approve each reply. One seller says Meta locked their account while Muse posted their listings. Meta has not said why.

Is this Meta AI's listing tool?

No. Facebook has its own seller tools that are not Muse. Meta AI in Marketplace drafts a listing from photos and can answer “Is this available?” for you. The separate Seller app does bulk listings. Muse is Meta's agent app. New to it? Read what Meta Muse is.

Buying, not selling? One reviewer had Muse find couches on Marketplace, though another tester found its Marketplace watch did not work. Try the Marketplace deal hunt job.

What went wrong for one seller?

Matt Robb, a YouTuber, asked Muse to handle his Marketplace replies. Muse offered two buttons, Allow One Time or Allow Always, and he tapped Always. Muse then sent the buyer his pickup address and told the buyer Robb was home when he wasn't. An offer also showed as accepted. Meta says that part was a display error it has fixed.

Meta reviewed it and said its privacy controls held. It promised a clearer permission prompt. Its help page still says Always allow lets Muse take that kind of action again without asking.

How do I stay safe?

  • Tap Allow once (it may say Allow One Time), never Always allow, when Muse asks to send a message.
  • Never give Muse your home address for buyers. Meta's own Marketplace advice says to keep it private.
  • Meet in a public, well-lit place, or ship the item.
  • Tell Muse to ignore payment screenshots and overpayment stories. Meta says never trust a screenshot of a payment.
  • Have Muse say an AI wrote the message. The Muse terms bar hiding it where the law asks you to say so.
  • Read every reply before it goes. The Muse terms make you responsible for every message and deal.
  • If you only want drafts, don't turn on automatic sending.

Sell on Marketplace without the hassle

Writes Facebook Marketplace listings that sell fast and drafts replies to buyers so lowballers don't waste your night.

Paste this into Muse

Marketplace works, but the messages drive me crazy. I want good listings and quick replies ready. How to do it: - From my photos, write a clear title, price and short description with size, condition and pickup area. - Price from similar items listed nearby. - Write reply drafts for "Is this still available?", lowball offers, holds and no-shows. - When I paste or screenshot a buyer message, draft my reply. - Never share my home address, phone number or last name with buyers. Suggest a public, well-lit meeting spot near me, like a busy store parking lot. What I get: listings ready to paste and replies like "Thanks! It's $120 firm. I can meet at the Main St grocery store lot after 5." Ask me before: sending any reply or naming a meeting spot. To start: Ask me for photos of the first item now.

You get: Ready-to-post Marketplace listings and a set of reply drafts for the questions buyers always ask.

Job 2 · Runs once · Web + Files + Calendar + Docs

Sell your furniture before you move

Plans a move-out sale: what to sell, where, at what price, and on what dates so it's gone before moving day.

Paste this into Muse

I'm moving and I don't want to haul furniture or pay to store it. I want it sold in time. How to do it: - Ask me my move date and photos of what I want to sell. - Price each from recent local sold prices. - Write a Marketplace listing for each. - Plan price drops: full price now, 20 percent off 2 weeks out, a final low price the last weekend. - Put the price drop dates in my calendar. - Find a donation pickup for whatever is left after the last weekend. - Never share my home address, phone number or last name with buyers. Suggest a public meeting spot instead. What I get: a plan like "11 items, about $1,350. Drop prices on the 12th and the 22nd. Donate pickup booked for leftovers after the 28th." Ask me before: posting, booking a donation pickup or adding calendar events. To start: Ask me my move date, then ask for photos.

You get: A sale plan with prices, listings and price drops scheduled before your move date.

Is there Muse for business?

Yes. Muse for Small Business adds skills and connectors to the same plans: free, Power at $20 a month and Maximum at $100. It works in the US and Canada, for people 18 and up. Shopify lets Muse read your orders, stock and sales. Your Facebook Page, Instagram stats and Meta ads connect in a few clicks. Meta also names QuickBooks, Stripe, Klaviyo, Canva, Slack and Notion.

Meta says nothing posts, sends or spends without your OK. Its own example: “Analyze my best-performing posts and ads. Then draft a week's worth of posts and plan an ad campaign using my existing content and industry trends for my review.”

Can Muse sell on Etsy?

Not through a connector. Muse has none for Etsy. Etsy's terms ban crawling and scraping, and its API rules ban unapproved automated tools. Etsy also says you are responsible for all activity on your account.

Muse can still help off the site. Ask it to rewrite your titles, tags and descriptions, then paste them in yourself. Some vendors advertise custom Etsy connectors for Muse. Meta doesn't review those, so grant access with care.

What about eBay and other sites?

One user says Muse listed books on eBay from photos. Another says it lowers eBay prices based on views. eBay's user agreement bans bots and AI agents unless eBay says yes first. It also bans sharing your login. If you try it, you risk your eBay account.

We found no Muse stories for Poshmark, Depop or Mercari.
